Emergency Management

Emergency management officers evaluate potential and actual disasters, ensuring adequacy of warning systems, shelters, and disaster preparedness plans. Emergency management officers prepare and administer measures to cope with chemical, nuclear weapon, reactor, and radiological accidents and incidents.

• Assess hazards and prepare plans to respond to emergencies and disasters in order to minimize risk to people and property.
• Meet with public safety officials, private companies, and the public regarding emergency response plans.
• Organize emergency response training for staff, volunteers, and other responders.
